PIMCO Announces 2018 Managing Directors
Newport Beach, California (March 14, 2018) – PIMCO, one of the world’s premier fixed income investment managers, is pleased to announce the promotion of the following officers of the firm to Managing Director.
Libby Cantrill
Ms. Cantrill is a Managing Director and the head of public policy for PIMCO. In this capacity, she helps coordinate the firm’s response to public policy issues and analyzes policy and political events for the firm’s Investment Committee. She is also a member of the firm’s Americas Portfolio Committee. Additionally, she is the co-head of PIMCO’s New York Office and is a founding member of PIMCO Parents, an initiative focused on supporting parents and families at PIMCO, and PIMCO Women, whose mission is to attract, retain, and develop women at PIMCO. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2007, she served as a legislative aide to a member of Congress, where she focused on fiscal and economic policy, and she also worked in the investment banking division at Morgan Stanley. She has 14 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and received her undergraduate degree in economics from Brown University. She is a CFA charterholder.
Rick Chan
Mr. Chan is a Managing Director and portfolio manager in the Newport Beach office, focusing on interest rate derivatives. He is a member of the Americas Portfolio Committee and has served as a rotating member on the firm's Investment Committee. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2014, he was a managing director at Merrill Lynch, trading and marketing long-dated interest rate options and structured solutions. Earlier at Merrill Lynch, he was responsible for creating complex trading strategies and supporting distribution to sophisticated clients. He has 16 years of investment experience and holds an undergraduate degree in commerce with a specialization in finance from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.
Josh Davis
Mr. Davis is a Managing Director and portfolio manager in the Newport Beach office. He is a senior member of PIMCO’s quantitative strategies portfolio management team and manages multi-strategy alternatives, managed futures, managed volatility and tail risk hedging portfolios. He has conducted research and published extensively on systematic strategies, innovative hedging solutions and alternative risk premia. He began his career at PIMCO in the portfolio analytics group, where he worked on developing the core infrastructure for analyzing multi-asset portfolios and advised institutional clients globally. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2008, he was a consulting strategist with Prime International Trading in Chicago. He has 14 years of investment experience and holds a Ph.D. in economics with an emphasis on macroeconomics and finance from Northwestern University, where he also earned his master's degree. He holds undergraduate degrees in pure mathematics and management science from the University of California, San Diego.
Alessandro Gandolfi
Mr. Gandolfi is a Managing Director and head of Italy for PIMCO Europe. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2006 as head of business development in Italy, he was in charge of institutional asset management for Sanpaolo IMI Group’s asset management division. Previously, he was responsible for IMI-Fideuram’s investment strategy development for Italy’s emerging pension fund management industry. He has 15 years of investment experience and holds an undergraduate degree from Bocconi University in Milan.
Russell Gannaway
Mr. Gannaway is a Managing Director and commercial credit portfolio manager in the Newport Beach office, focusing on commercial real estate and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS). Prior to joining PIMCO in 2009, he served as an associate with JER Partners in New York. He has focused predominantly on acquisitions of various commercial real estate debt products, including mezzanine loans, B notes and CMBS B pieces. He has 12 years of investment experience and holds an undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Georgia.
Ryan Korinke
Mr. Korinke is a Managing Director in the Hong Kong office and head of hedge fund and quantitative strategies. In this role, he leads a team of product strategists covering discretionary and systematic absolute return-oriented strategies. He previously served as an account manager with institutional client servicing responsibility and as the product manager for the Total Return and Unconstrained Bond strategies. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2005, Mr. Korinke was with The Concord Group, a real estate investment advisory firm. He has 17 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. He received an undergraduate degree from Harvard University.
Julie Meggers
Ms. Meggers is a Managing Director and global head of consultant relations and alternatives marketing at PIMCO. Based in Newport Beach, she is responsible for the firm’s relationships with investment consultants across all product offerings globally, and for delivering investment solutions to alternatives investors. She also chairs the finance committee and serves as treasurer on the PIMCO Foundation board. Previously, Ms. Meggers held roles leading firmwide strategic, financial and operating initiatives in PIMCO’s executive office. She also was head of the U.S. endowment and foundation practice and managed relationships across public and corporate pension plans, healthcare, insurance and other institutional clients. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2003, Ms. Meggers held positions at Arthur Andersen in their advisory services group, at St. Augustine University in Tanzania, East Africa as a lecturer in the business school, and at Casa de Clara, a homeless shelter for women and children. She has 20 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. She earned undergraduate degrees from Santa Clara University.
