Mr. van der Merwe is a vice president and account manager in the London office, focusing on institutional clients in the U.K. and Ireland. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2020, he worked for a commodities trading firm and as a research analyst for Natixis. Previously, he was a professional rugby player. He holds an MBA from London Business School, a master’s degree in finance from EDHEC in France and an undergraduate degree in actuarial science from Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
