The PIMCO Foundation Future Leaders Scholarship

About the Scholarship

Founded in 2021, FLS is designed for students from underrepresented communities who have an interest in investment management and wish to pursue a career in finance by way of continued education. Inspired by the program’s ongoing success, the PIMCO Foundation will be awarding $30,000 scholarships to students. Current undergraduate sophomores, current or future (Fall 2025) master’s degree students, and current doctoral students are invited to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

Meet one or more of the following:

Pell Grant/Financial Aid Eligibility

Undergrad students must be Pell Grant eligible
Graduate students must be eligible for Federal financial aid and/or were Pell Grant eligible during undergraduate study

First generation college student
Self-identify as Black, African, or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander
Attend an accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU) or Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI)

Academic Qualifications:

In good academic standing as of the application deadline
Pursuing a relevant degree or career in financial services or an adjacent industry

Undergraduate-specific criteria:

Enrolled as a sophomore in an accredited U.S. college or university
Proof of admittance & intention will be required

Graduate-specific criteria:

Master’s students enrolled in a U.S. institution
Doctoral students enrolled in a U.S. institution
Proof of admittance & intention will be required

Application & Program Information

Application/Interview Timeline:

Applications Open: December 2, 2024
Applications Close: February 19, 2025
Interviews will be conducted around late April/early May 2025.

Virtual Summit:
As part of the scholarship, recipients will be invited to attend a celebratory virtual event in May 2025.
