PIMCO Pro Bono Corps: Driving Sustainable Change and Growth

Launched in 2016, PIMCO's Pro Bono Corps continues to produce valuable opportunity to foster sustainable change in the nonprofit sector while enhancing employees' professional skills and leadership.

Overview

PIMCO employees collaborate with nonprofits to develop solutions in areas like financial management and technology, driving sector-wide growth. The Pro Bono Corps offers various projects throughout the year, providing diverse opportunities for employee participation:

  • Pro Bono Corps Sprint: Over 3 deep dive sessions, teams of employees develop a deliverable and implementation plan for a nonprofit partner’s challenge.
  • Pro Bono Corps Multi-Week: Over 10 weeks, employees address a large-scale challenge to help a nonprofit partner.
  • Black Girl Ventures Small Company Accelerator: Employees support Black and Brown women small business owners on their journey towards profitability and sustainability.
  • Social Impact Challenge: A multi-company program in partnership with the Global FoodBanking Network to enhance food recovery practices and sustainability in global food banking.
  • PIMCO Nonprofit Forum: A bi-annual program built on PIMCO’s forum takeaways, helping build resiliency for global food banks by providing an understanding of key macro-economic themes, and how these themes affect their operations.

Spotlight: Social Impact Challenge

The Social Impact Challenge leverages the talents and collaborative power of PIMCO and cross-company partners to tackle pressing community issues. This year, volunteers from PIMCO, TechSoup, Cargill, and Google developed innovative food recovery solutions to optimize operations and minimize environmental impact. Their contributions, including a dehydration method that extends shelf life and safe transportation through “coldtainers” and community refrigerators, are now integral to the Global FoodBanking Network’s strategic plan, significantly advancing sustainable food distribution.

Impact

Since its inception, the PIMCO Pro Bono Corps has dedicated over 12,000 hours to 93 charities. This initiative not only strengthens nonprofits but also enriches employees' lives, setting a new standard in corporate social responsibility. Through Pro Bono Corps, PIMCO continues to support efforts towards Zero Hunger and Gender Equality, harnessing professional expertise for the greater good.
